All Half Shell Hearing Aids - ***Half Shell Hearing Aid Accessories

The Half-Shell designation for a custom built In-The-Ear hearing aid refers to the size of the hearing aid only. There are many different types of circuits, or electronics, that can be installed in a Half-Shell hearing aid ranging from a basic analog circuit all the way up to the latest, fanciest digital circuitry from almost any of the major manufacturers.....we carry them all. We are very experienced and well versed in all the latest developments within the hearing aid industry.

A Half-Shell hearing aid is made to the exact size and shape of a person's ear. This size aid is 'medium' in terms of sizes of In-The-Ear hearing aids. This size aid is a lesser cost than the small custom In-The-Ear aids. Half-Shell hearing aids can be fitted for a wide degree and types of hearing loss. They are appropriate for hearing losses ranging from mild all the way up to moderate-to-severe (including high-frequency losses). The power and frequency specifics of the circuit that gets installed in a person's Half-Shell hearing aid will be matched to their individual hearing loss. That's why you don't see any output specifications associated with these aids......they are individually made and vary greatly.

The size of the Half-Shell provides a good airtight seal compared to the smaller sizes of In-The-Ear aids. This 'air tightness' is what affords the user a higher usable volume level and is a major factor in reducing possible feedback, or whistling, problems. Many people order this size aid when they want the performance of a stronger In-The-Ear aid but don't want the larger size. These hearing aids always use the size #312 batteries, and the faceplates (the part that shows) is usually about the size of a nickel. Most of these aids are vented for help in reducing occlusion (the feeling of 'talking in a barrel').

Special Instructions for Custom In-The-Ear Instrument Orders:
When your order is received, we will send you impression kits (at no charge). You can easily make an impression, or cast of your ear...tens of thousands of our customers have done this over the years. Or if you have an older instrument that fits well, we can use that for the impression. Either of these is necessary for a custom-fitted hearing aid. Also, provide us with a copy of an audiogram (hearing test) if you have one. It will be very helpful, but is not necessary.
